Welcome!
Imagine coming home from work, opening your refrigerator and not having any food for you and your children. Imagine not having the financial resources to afford daily necessities and being told that your local food bank has run low on supplies. Sadly, this is a reality faced by many of our neighbors.
A worsening economy and changes in food stamp benefits have overwhelmingly driven up the demand for food requests compared with this time last year. Unfortunately, food donations have not kept pace. In some locations, food donations have fallen more than 50% during non-peak donation seasons, while the need has remained constant year round.
Fortunately, Northwest Suburban United Way, local food pantries, governments and businesses have combined efforts to combat the food shortage in our area! Join us during LIVE UNITED Week,
April 11-15, 2011, and make a difference in your community by collecting food at your place of business and donating it to a local food bank!
While we can't eradicate all of the need in our area, we can make a difference! For one week, we can pause in our daily lives and take a stand to advance the common good for our family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. We are one community and together, we can LIVE UNITED to help one another.
